Document Management System

Documents can be stored in a personal folders. Such folders can be created by the user easier as in MS Windows. Folders are nestable.

Documents are stored in the database, as a share on any networking computer is a high security risk. To avoid this, the documents are stored in the MS SQL Database. The document size is limited to 2 GB. In average teachers can consume up to 500 MB storage, This is far enough for the mostly used document types DOC/DOCX, XLS/XLSX or PDF.

All folders and/or documents can be shared with any other user of the system, if the creator of a share is within the same group as the user of the share. The availability of a folder share or document share can be timed by the creator by setting the 'date-from' and 'date-to' parameter. The share of the folder/document will only be available in the defined period.

Remark: as BRAINY will work in schools all over the world, some features may not be needed in all countries.

The Document Management System

is embedded into BRAINY's role-based security system. It is not possible to put one's hand on documents or folders when the necessary right is missing. Violations lead to instant suspension from the system.

All document types can be added to folders, except mp3 or files that contain executable script code.
